Martha Garrett, E-RYT 500, has been teaching Yoga since 1995. Her first certification was with Iyengar certified teacher, Lillah Schwartz. Martha’s 500-hour certification came through Triad Yoga Institute under Terry Brown and Suzanne Newton. More recently she has been inspired by Baxter Bell and received certification in Yoga for Healthy Aging in 2016. Martha’s classes are tailored to meet the needs of a variety of physical abilities with focus on proper alignment, use of the breath, and the creation of a light heart. An artist and teacher of art, she understands how to encourage students uniquely in their practice while creating an arena of challenge and support.
Martha has hosted many retreats in the mountains of North Carolina and enjoys creating community around the practice of yoga. She is excited to return to Belize and team up with her long-time yoga bud, Heather Patton. Together they will focus on practices that harmonize with the beauty of the surroundings. Morning classes will energize participants for their day with more dynamic sequences and evenings will be geared toward sequences to align participants with quiet and a more inward focus. All classes will offer a variety of options for seasoned practitioners and those with less yoga experience.
Heather Patton, E-RYT, has been practicing Yoga since 1999. She holds certifications from the Triad Yoga Institute as well as Cindy Dollar's teacher training course. Since 2001, Heather has led her students to find their own path from deep within. She hopes that all will experience the joy that comes from the practice of Yoga, and is thrilled watching the lives of her regular clients change through their own dedicated yoga practice. She is honored to co-teach this retreat with her long time friend and fellow yogi, Martha Garrett
