Sue Park, E-RYT 200 Sue Park has been in the fitness world all her life and teaching as a personal trainer and fitness instructor for over 25 years. She loves the way the body works and its many possibilities. After many years of dabbling in running, cycling, swimming, kickboxing, aerobics,…and feeling the wear & tear, she realized how important it was to have herself in balance; physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. Martial arts and the practice of yoga introduced her to the subtle energies that she was not aware of before. She began teaching and practicing yoga since 1999 in the practice of Ashtanga Vinyasa yoga and has been influenced by many teachers along the way. Having the privilege of raising 4 kids while teaching and practicing gave her an open pathway to personally grow.

Her teaching style is creative and playful while mindfully guiding her students on their journey towards a mind, body connection at a deeper level.  She is passionate in her practice, loves the teachings and the spiritual impact yoga has on her Christian faith! She mindfully & playfully guides her students to reach their fullest potential and meet them where they are.

Begin with four nights in the jungle…

At the beginning of your trip, you will stay in riverview cabins at Black Rock Lodge. Each cabin is nestled along the mountainside and allows for beautiful views of the river below and of the surrounding jungle. The cabins are private and inviting, with spacious interiors, unique detailing, two double beds and full bathroom. Relax in the hammock on your private porch, listen to the wildlife, and admire the sweeping view.

…then spend three nights on a private island.

The last three nights of the retreat are spent at Hatchet Caye, right on the beach. Each double occupancy guestroom has a spacious porch with gorgeous views of the Caribbean Sea. The rooms were feature Belizean hardwoods and local detailing.

Set on its own private island, while on Hatchet Caye you will feel like a castaway–a happy, catered-to castaway.

All meals are included, beginning with dinner on arrival day. Belizean food is always deliciously homemade, and is simple and unfussy. All produce is locally grown, and while in the mountains, much is organically grown on-site at the lodge. Vegetarian and vegan options can be accommodated

Breakfasts at Black Rock Lodge will be fresh fruits, yogurt, granola, toast and jam (everything homemade!), followed by a hot item. Lunches could be veggie fajitas or chicken with rice and beans. Typical dinner menu at Black Rock Lodge is four-course and might include curried plantain soup, spinach salad with watermelon and balsamic dressing, mayan lasagna and key lime mousse.

Meals at Hatchet Caye are casual gourmet. Breakfast might be fresh tropical fruits, followed by homemade tortillas, eggs and beans. Lunch options include freshly-caught lionfish and plantain fries. Dinner might be garden salad, creamy shrimp and basil pasta, and strawberry margarita pie. Your meal package includes water served with meals and juice, coffee and tea at breakfast. Drinking water is provided to you free of charge. Additional alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages may be purchased.

Included in your Eco-Adventure retreat:

  • Xunantunich Mayan ruin tour
  • Caving tour to a Mayan ritual cave–choice of ATM cave or Barton Creek Cave (with ziplining)
  • Snorkeling tour to the barrier reef
  • Twice-daily yoga classes (except on cave tour day)

Complementary free-time activies:

  • Jungle hiking
  • River float
  • Sea kayaks, hobie cats and paddle boards

Xunantunich–Guided tour of the magnificent Mayan ruin of Xunantunich. Travel across a hand-cranked ferry to visit this 6-plaza site with wonderfully preserved stellae. Climb atop El Castillo temple (the second largest structure in all of Belize) for a sweeping view of Belize and Guatemala.

Actun Tunichil Muknal (ATM)–To experience this amazing cave is to visit a place like no other. After a 45-minute hike in a nature preserve, you arrive at the entrance of ATM and swim or wade inside. ATM was a sacred Mayan ritual site, and still contains hundreds of astonishingly well-preserved Mayan artifacts and human skeletons, many of which have been ‘cemented’ to the cave interior with sparkling calcite.

Barton Creek Cave + Ziplining–Begin this tour by gently gliding though a Mayan ritual cave in your canoe. You’ll see lovely formations while your guide explains the history and traditions of the Mayans, and how they used caves in their spiritual practices. Finish the day with an exhilarating zip though the jungles of Belize!

Snorkeling the Western Hemisphere’s largest barrier reef–Belize’s barrier reef is like a living art gallery. Living among the many beautiful corals are a myriad of tropical fish–Blue Tang, Angelfish, Butterfly Fish, Parrot Fish…there are simply too many to name. Snorkelers often see elusive beauties such as spotted eagle rays, sea turtles and the magnificent Queen Triggerfish.

Morning and evening outdoor yoga classes with gorgeous views. The locations we have selected for our eco-adventure retreat fully integrate nature into yoga: open air, sweeping views, nature’s soundtrack. We hope that these sublime locations will help you take your practice to a new level.

Black Rock Yoga Palapa (left) and Hatchet Caye Yoga Deck (right)

While at Black Rock Lodge, the 600 sq. ft. yoga deck is located above rapids in the Macal River, and you will love the sound of the rushing water during practice. The deck is shaded by a high thatched palapa, making an afternoon or evening session enjoyable even on a hot day. At Hatchet Caye, the thatched yoga palapa is built out over the water, so that the gentle lapping Caribbean Sea and tropical breeze provide a calming backdrop. Situated to provide stunning sunrise and sunset views, you will love being fully immersed in beautiful surroundings.

Activities available for an additional charge:
