Join Father-Daugher team Chuck and Kelly as they return to Belize for a THIRD time!

Kelly Merydith, RYT 500, Co-Founder of Ahimsa Yoga, has been practicing yoga on and off since 2004, but began practicing regularly in 2008 when she had an internship at a financial company in downtown Chicago. During lunch and after work, she took classes at Akal Yoga Studio in the Chicago Board of Trade Building. She discovered that yoga was a way to reduce stress and find mental clarity.

In 2010, Kelly completed the 200-hour Teacher Training in Santa Monica, CA. In 2012 she completed Moksha’s 500-hr training program. Kelly opened Ahimsa Yoga Studio in Oak Park in 2011 and Ahimsa Berwyn and Elmhurst in 2015 and 2016. Ahimsa La Grange will open in June of 2017.

Through yoga Kelly discovered her true passion – sharing the joys of yoga with others and creating a conscious, kind yoga community.

Chuck Merydith, E-RYT 500, Co-Founder of Ahimsa Yoga
More than six years ago, Chuck helped Kelly Merydith open to Ahimsa’s Oak Park Studio.  At that time, he then earned his 200-hour teaching certificate from YogaWorks in Pacific Palisades, California.  Over the next two years, while teaching at the Oak Park Studio, Chuck earned his 500-hour certification from Moksha Yoga in Chicago.

Since that time, he has taught more than 1,500 Beginners and Vinyasa classes at Ahimsa’s studios.  He also conducts regular Sound Baths at the studios.

Chuck has co-led yoga retreats with Kelly Merydith in Belize (twice with Belize Yoga) and Mexico.

Chuck is inspired by the wide range of yoga being taught everywhere, especially at Ahimsa’s studios.

Begin with four nights in the Mountain Pine Ridge…a pine forest in the middle of the jungle

The first four nights you will stay at ultra-secluded Hidden Valley Inn. The cottages are spacious and pleasant, with high pitched ceilings, stocked fireplace, sitting area, private bath and Belizean hardwood detailing. Cottages are single, double or triple occupancy, with either a double bed or twins.

In addition to the inn’s pool and hot tub, there are 100+ miles of hiking and mountain biking trails that lead to eight large waterfalls. Yoga is practiced in three specially-built locations throughout the reserve, including one yoga platform overlooking Tiger Creek waterfall.

…then spend three nights on a private island.

The last three nights of the retreat are spent at Hatchet Caye, right on the beach. Each double occupancy guestroom has a spacious porch with gorgeous views of the Caribbean Sea. The rooms were feature Belizean hardwoods and local detailing.

Set on its own private island, while on Hatchet Caye you will feel like a castaway–a happy, catered-to castaway.

All meals are included, beginning with dinner on arrival day. You will feast on amazing food with excellent service while on our Caribbean Hideaways retreat. At both resorts, you will enjoy delicious homemade gourmet meals. Vegetarian, vegan and allergies can be easily accomodated.

Typical dinner menu at Hidden Valley Inn might include a first course choice of bruchetta with olive tapanade, lobster stew or walnut and blue cheese salad, main course choices of pecan-crusted snapper, curried chickpeas and spinach or filet mignon with mushrooms and red wine sauce. Their exquisite, daily-made desserts range from decadent chocolate eclairs to the more pious pear granita.

Meals at Hatchet Caye are casual gourmet. Breakfast might be fresh tropical fruits, followed by homemade tortillas, eggs and beans. Lunch options include freshly-caught lionfish and plantain fries. Dinner might be garden salad, creamy shrimp and basil pasta, and strawberry margarita pie. Your meal package includes water served with meals and juice, coffee and tea at breakfast. Drinking water is provided to you free of charge. Additional alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages may be purchased.

Caracol Mayan Ruins–Caracol is Belize’s most magnificent Mayan ruin (and one of the largest in the Maya world). In its prime it covered over 65 square miles and was inhabited by over 120,000 people. Lost to the rainforest for over 1,000 years, Caracol was rediscovered in 1937. Its largest temple, Caana, is over 140 feet tall, and remains the tallest man-made structure in Belize to this day.

Snorkeling the second-largest Barrier Reef in the world–Belize’s reef is like a living art gallery. Living among the many beautiful corals are a myriad of tropical fish–Blue Tang, Angelfish, Butterfly Fish, Parrot Fish…there are simply too many to name. Snorkelers often see elusive beauties such as spotted eagle rays, sea turtles and the magnificent Queen Triggerfish.
