Lisa Breitenwischer, E-RYT 500, HHC, Owner of Balancing Energy Health & Yoga Center
Lisa’s first introduction to yoga was back in the 90’s. She liked yoga but loved to run. Running gave her peace of mind, and helped relieve stress from her job in advertising. It wasn’t until January 2005, after attending a Power Flow yoga class that Lisa realized she could achieve the same “runner’s high” without pounding the pavement.
After completing her first (and last) marathon in November 2005, she decided to run less and devote more energy towards yoga, increasing her practice to 4-5 times per week. After several months, her muscles became leaner, longer and stronger, and more importantly, her mind became calmer and more focused. What began as a way of staying healthy and fit, soon transformed into a devotion and a way of life and became a 200hr Certified Yoga Teacher in 2006.
Lisa continued to study with teachers Rod Stryker and Bhakti Flow guru, Rusty Wells and attained her E-RYT 500hr certification in 2011.That same year she also became a Certified Holistic Health Coach through the Institute for Integrative Nutrition in NYC.
Teaching Yoga and the Health Coaching created a huge shift in her life and in 2012, Lisa left the corporate world of advertising and opened BalancingEnergy Health & Yoga Center in Dallas, TX. It was her dream to provide a place where people could find balance and good health through yoga, nutritional coaching, and infrared sauna sessions. It’s a family run business and they are grateful to be celebrating their 8th year anniversary on May 14, 2020.
Lisa enjoy’s hosting yoga retreats and this will be her 2nd retreat partnering with Belize Yoga. She also enjoys hiking, cooking, writing, learning new things and spending time with her family and her dog Boomer.
Begin with four nights in the Mountain Pine Ridge…a pine forest in the middle of the jungle
The first four nights you will stay at ultra-secluded Hidden Valley Inn. The cottages are spacious and pleasant, with high pitched ceilings, stocked fireplace, sitting area, private bath and Belizean hardwood detailing. Cottages are single, double or triple occupancy, with either a double bed or twins.
In addition to the inn’s pool and hot tub, there are 100+ miles of hiking and mountain biking trails that lead to eight large waterfalls. Yoga is practiced in three specially-built locations throughout the reserve, including one yoga platform overlooking Tiger Creek waterfall.
…then spend three nights on a private island.
The last three nights of the retreat are spent at Ray Caye, right on the beach. Each double occupancy guestroom has a spacious porch with gorgeous views of the Caribbean Sea. The rooms were feature Belizean hardwoods and local detailing.
Set on its own private island, while on Ray Caye you will feel like a castaway–a happy, catered-to castaway.
All meals are included, beginning with dinner on arrival day. You will feast on amazing food with excellent service while on our Caribbean Hideaways retreat. At both resorts, you will enjoy delicious homemade gourmet meals. Vegetarian, vegan and allergies can be easily accomodated.
Typical dinner menu at Hidden Valley Inn might include a first course choice of bruchetta with olive tapanade, lobster stew or walnut and blue cheese salad, main course choices of pecan-crusted snapper, curried chickpeas and spinach or filet mignon with mushrooms and red wine sauce. Their exquisite, daily-made desserts range from decadent chocolate eclairs to the more pious pear granita.
Meals at Ray Caye are casual gourmet. Breakfast might be fresh tropical fruits, followed by homemade tortillas, eggs and beans. Lunch options include freshly-caught lionfish and plantain fries. Dinner might be garden salad, creamy shrimp and basil pasta, and strawberry margarita pie. Your meal package includes water served with meals and juice, coffee and tea at breakfast. Drinking water is provided to you free of charge. Additional alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages may be purchased.
Included in your Eco-Fusion retreat:
Complementary free-time activities:
Caracol Mayan Ruins–Caracol is Belize’s most magnificent Mayan ruin (and one of the largest in the Maya world). In its prime it covered over 65 square miles and was inhabited by over 120,000 people. Lost to the rainforest for over 1,000 years, Caracol was rediscovered in 1937. Its largest temple, Caana, is over 140 feet tall, and remains the tallest man-made structure in Belize to this day.
Guided waterfall hike–Guided hike to enjoy the flora and fauna that Belize has in abundance–including many native birds not found elsewhere in North America. Hike along the Cascade Trail, traversing handbuilt bridges, and arriving at the magical and photo-perfect Butterfly Falls.
Snorkeling the second-largest Barrier Reef in the world–Belize’s reef is like a living art gallery. Living among the many beautiful corals are a myriad of tropical fish–Blue Tang, Angelfish, Butterfly Fish, Parrot Fish…there are simply too many to name. Snorkelers often see elusive beauties such as spotted eagle rays, sea turtles and the magnificent Queen Triggerfish.
Morning and evening outdoor yoga classes with gorgeous views. The locations we have selected for our retreat perfectly immerse you in the beauty of Belize.
While at Hidden Valley Inn, you will enjoy three different yoga palapas–each designed to provide you with a unique jungle sensory experience. At Ray Caye, the yoga palapa is built out over the water, so that the gentle lapping Caribbean Sea and tropical breeze provide a calming backdrop. Situated to provide stunning sunrise and sunset views, you will love being fully immersed in beautiful surroundings.
